Aborting baby girls report on Minister’s desk since March

A report on whether unborn baby girls are being killed because they are girls has been sitting on New South Wales Health Minister Brad Hazzard’s desk since at least March.

A requirement of the 2019 abortion-to-birth law was for a review into sex selection abortion by the end of 2020.

We know the work has been done thanks to an answer to a question on notice asked by Labor Upper House member Greg Donnelly.

“The review of the issue of whether or not terminations of pregnancy are being performed for the purpose of sex selection has been completed and a report has been prepared and submitted,” Hazzard replied.

Doubtless he will blame the pandemic for the delay in tabling this report in Parliament but that’s hardly an excuse as Sydney didn’t go into lockdown until late June.

During the 2019 abortion debate, Parliament squibbed outlawing sex-selection abortions with many pro-abortion MPs claiming it doesn’t happen.

Parliament opted for the review instead, the contents of which remain secret.

In this age of “male privilege”, one would think the woke left would be keen to ensure gender discrimination in the womb was not happening.

Their problem is though that they believe gender is something bigoted doctors, midwives and parents “assign at birth” instead of letting the child choose.

So in one sense, their tortured logic denies that sex selection is a thing.

One of Australia’s most famous cases of sex selection abortion involved a Victorian GP after that state passed its abortion-to-birth laws, upon which NSW’s were modelled.

Dr Mark Hobart was seeing a pregnant woman of Indian background who, along with her husband, requested a referral to abort their baby because she was a girl.
They favoured a boy.

Dr Hobart did what he thought was the right thing and reported this.

Instead of being hailed a hero for sticking up for the lives of defenceless unborn baby girls, he was sanctioned under Victoria’s abortion law by the Medical Board.

Research by LaTrobe University indicates sex selection abortion is skewing the ratio of boys to girls in Victoria.

The Christian Democratic Party is opposed to abortion and the harm it causes mothers and will move to introduce legislation in NSW to ban sex-selection abortion.

Rev Fred Nile also has a bill on the table to repeal the 2019 abortion-to-birth bill, which sadly doesn’t have the support of the Parliament.

Lyle Shelton is Director of Campaigns and Communications for the Christian Democratic Party. The Reverend Honourable Fred Nile MLC has nominated Lyle to succeed him in the NSW Parliament when he retires in November. To keep in touch with Lyle and the CDP, sign up here.
